Our time in Martinique comes to an end, and the island bids us farewell with a rainy morning—almost as if it wants to wash away the traces of a beautiful vacation. The tropical rain falls heavily, then fades just as quickly, leaving behind the scent of wet earth and the gentle hum of the sea.
We take a last walk through Fort-de-France, where the quiet streets and closed shutters make the city feel almost suspended in time. A few people hurry by under umbrellas, but for the most part, the capital seems to be dozing through the rain.
And then, just as we’re preparing to say goodbye, the sun breaks through the clouds, shining down on the island one last time. A final golden light over the bay—a perfect farewell.
