We visited Ricetto di Candelo, one of the best-preserved medieval villages in Italy, tucked away in the Biella region. This walled village, built between the 13th and 14th centuries, was originally designed as a refuge from invasions, with defensive walls and round towers that still stand today. Over the centuries, it has served multiple purposes: from a stronghold during wartime to a storage space for food in times of peace. The village is so well-preserved that it has been used as a film set for historical movies like I Promessi Sposi and Dracula, adding to its charm and mystique.
Turin Piedmont Guides – Enjoy Piedmont
The air was crisp as we wandered through its narrow alleys, admiring the beautiful architecture and quiet streets. There was no wind, but the freshness of the day made the medieval surroundings feel even more magical. After exploring, we headed back to the hotel, where we warmed up with a relaxing hot shower. And, as the evening settled in, we couldn’t resist getting cozy in our own way, making the most of the warmth and intimacy the setting provided.
